With the help of Sadhguru’s Grace, I had the opportunity to attend the Guru Pooja class this month. It is a three day program and from 8 am to 8 pm :)

I was a bit hesitant in the beginning to attend the program… I was wondering three days for Guru Pooja? Can’t we do it in the weekends? The program happened on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I thought why three days, we can somehow squeeze the extra day into Saturday and Sunday…

Still, I went ahead and attended the program. On the first day (Friday), our teacher (Dr. Chitra) was present, she welcomed us and started the program. First day itself our Teacher asked us to say the chants… I was wondering, well has the program really started? :)

We were 12 participants…attending this program…

We kept on repeating the chants and to be frank, it was not that easy… Then I remembered that this was how students in the old times use to study when there were no written material. Knowledge was transferred through teachings, directly from Guru to Shishya (student).

The day went with complete chantings and in the evening, we were asked to practice those chants at home also. Well in the night, I was unable to remember some words and slept through. In the morning, when I tried I was able to remember :)

Second day also was similar as first day, complete chants with few breaks and we were through with the complete chants on second day itself, including the method in which we need to perform the Pooja. Again I wondered well, why three days, it can be reduced to two days only… Teacher asked us to practice the chant thoroughly and I did that in the nite.

Third day, we practiced for some time in the morning and the Teacher said that there is going to be a Test and everyone’s faces went blank. It doesnt matter what test we give, when we hear the word TEST, there will be butterflies in our stomach.

I went ahead first and gave the test and there were initially some pronounciation mistakes. I was happy that at least I was able to remember all the verses properly. Then I worked on the pronounciations and gave a final test to the Teacher and I cleared it finalllllllyyyyyyyyyy :)

Then I thought, well three days are not enough, one needs more practice and need to perfect the procedure :)

Almost everyone cleared the test and we were all feeling ecstatic :)

We had the program happening in a Farm House in Vasant Kunj. It was a lovely place, full greenery. I didnt feel like leaving the place after the end of the program.

I would request everyone to attend the program and perform Guru Pooja.

Sadhguru says doing Guru Pooja is also a Sadhna in itself…
